WHY READ, AND REREAD, THIS BOOK? When you shift the focus onto yourself and who you are in the process of reaching your goals, you will stop looking for confirmation outside of yourself.
The key, most innovative element in all my books and in my coaching is that I don’t give advice because people don’t listen to advice, and how can the same seven steps work for everyone anyhow? We are all different, and what makes our life fulfilled is to live it according to our values and what is important to us. It is only by designing our own custom-made formula that we can reach our individual dreams successfully and experience what we consider fulfillment while getting there. And I encourage you to reread this book again and again. Every time, you will go deeper into your understanding of what motivates you, what defeats you, what works and doesn’t work for your life. Often, we travel through our life following an old map that doesn’t necessarily work for our ever-evolving self. Investing your time in getting to know yourself with every new goal and every new project creates a happier you while achieving it—and you will achieve it faster because, as you know, when you are happy and fulfilled, life unfolds a lot more easily. Can you imagine what your life would be like if you trusted yourself and didn’t need outside approval?
The workbook questions are thought-provoking and are designed to incrementally deepen your self-knowledge. The invaluable tools offered are very practical, and they can be implemented immediately. For example, on Day 9, you will learn to embrace the perspective of the Observer, that of a lighthouse. A lighthouse has a 360-degree view, and it stands strong and unyielding, on solid ground. Looking at life through that wide-angle lens enables you to assess the Big Picture, while the laser-pointer view gives you only a narrow scope of your circumstances and desires. From the Observer’s perspective, you can see all around you: past, present, and future. When you shift the focus onto yourself and who you are in the process of reaching your goals, you will stop looking for confirmation outside of yourself. The Value of Getting to Know Yourself Investing in getting to know yourself for who you are now, as you pursue your goals—and who you will be when you live your Big Picture—and defining your emotional DNA will give you tremendous value:
