Sulla SS17 sono stati investiti 5 orsi dal 2014. 𝗧𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗶 𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗼, 𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗰𝘂𝗶 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗼, 𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗼 𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶 𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶 𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗹’𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗼. Tre è un numero enorme su una popolazione di una sessantina di esemplari.

Quando abbiamo avviato la campagna di raccolta fondi (𝗜𝗟 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝗘̀ 𝗜𝗡 𝗕𝗜𝗢) per mettere in sicurezza un tratto pericoloso della SS17, Carrito era ancora vivo. La sua tragica fine ha avuto molto clamore mediatico perché l’orso era conosciuto e amato.

Ma Carrito non è morto perché era un orso “confidente”. È morto perché era un orso e gli orsi hanno bisogno di spazio e per questa ragione si spostano.

𝗟𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼 𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲, 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗹'𝘂𝗼𝗺𝗼. Purtroppo, perciò, la morte di orsi per incidente stradale è tra le più temute, e in qualche modo prevedibili. Soprattutto in caso di strade pericolose come la SS17.

Se dunque abbiamo a cuore la tutela di questo animale e vogliamo scongiurare altre gravissime perdite per incidente stradale, 𝗱𝗼𝗯𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶 𝗴𝗹𝗶 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗹𝗶 𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗶.
E dobbiamo farlo presto, prestissimo! Prima che altri animali perdano la vita in questo modo.

Dovrebbero occuparsene le istituzioni che sono preposte a farlo. Ma non possiamo stare fermi in attesa di un segnale. Facciamo allora in modo che la perdita di Carrito serva ad aprire gli occhi!

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗼 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘇𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶 𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗱𝗮 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮: la messa in sicurezza delle strade che tagliano i territori abitati dalla fauna selvatica è una priorità, bisogna fare in fretta ed è necessario fare rete.

L'orso bruno marsicano è una sottospecie in via di estinzione e ogni individuo è prezioso. 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗻 𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗮 𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮, 𝗺𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗻 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗽𝗼 𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗶 𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘇𝗶 𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗶 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗮 c𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮

La notizia che non avremmo mai voluto dare: Carrito è stato investito sulla SS17 ed è morto.

Abbiamo purtroppo sempre temuto questo triste epilogo che ora ci rattrista enormemente.

La perdita di Juan Carrito lascia tutti noi, che ci dedichiamo con passione alla coesistenza uomo-orso nei corridoi ecologici, con un profondo senso di frustrazione e responsabilità per la perdita di un altro orso sulla strada.
.
In buona parte del nostro Appennino, le strade attraversano aree naturali ricche di biodiversità. Vivere in un territorio dove la Natura è predominante, considerato che quella stessa ricchezza è utilizzata in slogan per attirare flussi turistici, dovrebbe obbligarci a investire nella sua salvaguardia.
.
Troppo spesso invece mancano politiche (locali, regionali e nazionali) che prevedano azioni concrete per mitigare il nostro impatto sulla preziosa e unica biodiversità che ci circonda.
.
Gli interventi di messa in sicurezza delle strade, per il bene della fauna e delle persone, soprattutto fuori dalle aree protette, non possono essere demandati alle associazioni o ai Parchi, che pure investono di propria iniziativa ingenti risorse ed energie per migliorare la coesistenza tra uomo e orso, per mitigare l’impatto delle nostre attività sulla sopravvivenza del plantigrado, per garantire un futuro a questa popolazione.

È necessario un cambio di marcia reale: si faccia in modo che la morte di un giovane orso non sia dimenticata domani e non sia stata vana.

Il nostro amato Juan Carrito è stato investito ed è morto! 😔

Siamo senza parole, non doveva succedere eppure è successo! La velocità in auto uccide la fauna selvatica, lo abbiamo ripetuto 100 volte ma mai ci saremmo aspettati una notizia terribile come questa!
È altrettanto vero che se Carrito fosse rimasto a distanza dall'uomo e dalle sue risorse alimentari, forse tutto questo si sarebbe potuto evitare.

Da oggi il nostro Abruzzo è più povero e infinitamente piu triste!
Non ti dimenticheremo mai, nostro dolcissimo Orso Bruno Marsicano!

The Pacific herring (Clupea pallasii) is a small, silver fish found along the Pacific coast of North America, from California, throughout British Columbia and all the way up to Alaska.

As forage fish, herring play a crucial role in the marine food web, linking plankton (the base of the food web) to much larger animals including salmon, whales, wolves, birds, and humans.. Understanding the role of herring in the ecosystem is important for the conservation and management of the entire coast.

Right now, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is accepting comments on the 2022/2023 Draft Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) for the five major Pacific herring stocks in British Columbia. For years, Pacific Wild has joined forces with First Nations, researchers, environmental groups and concerned citizens to advocate for a moratorium on the commercial gillnet and sien herring fishery in the Strait of Georgia to allow Pacific herring populations to rebound to healthy levels. DFO will be accepting feedback until Friday, January 19, 2023.
