You Are a Writer

Did you know that you are a writer? Did you know that everybody is a writer within? Jeff Goins knows it, and to prove it he has released his new e-book, You Are a Writer (So Start Acting Like One).

Jeff is an author, blogger and speaker, and his blog, goinswriter.com, is a popular resource among writers, artists and creatives of all types. He calls his new e-book “an introduction to the wonderful, messy world of writing—and how it all begins with a simple mental shift that changes everything: You are a writer; you just need to write.”

Seth Godin, my personal idol and the master of creativity, sharp thinking and spectacular formatting, has great things to say about Jeff’s other e-book The Writing Manifesto: “Pow! This is a good one, a wake-up call and just what you need to read.” For many of us, when Seth says something this powerful, pow, we listen!

I must confess, though, that I have often suggested to people that they hire a writer. For a long time I have thought that, to stand above the rest and call yourself a writer, you have to be diligent about your writing and pursue some kind of academic career. Not true, says Jeff. We are all writers within. We just need to get moving and start acting like writers (which of course means not hiring a writer!).

My curiosity has got the better of me with this controversial idea, and I want to know more. How about you?
