1️⃣ the concept of an eViRoNmEnTaL fOoTpRiNt was invented by the oil and gas industry to gaslight you into thinking that the climate crisis is your fault (blame shifting from the powerful multi-billionaire dollar industries that are actually running the planet into the ground onto the individual)

2️⃣ the rich and powerful have the most carbon intensive lifestyles on the planet. According to Oxfam International, if we want to stay within the 1.5ºC limit (we do, we definitely do):

👉 each person on Earth would need to have a carbon budget of about 2.2 tons CO2 per year

🛫 Yet, the richest 1% blow through that limit in just 12 days each year. While the poorest 50% of humanity emits less than half over an entire year.

The inequality is absolutely absurd.

Therefore

3️⃣It's time to eat...sorry, tax the rich

4️⃣ We can start with the fossil fuel companies that raked in record-breaking profits last year, exacerbating inequality while fuelling climate collapse. Sign the petition calling for a #WindfallTax on Big Oil >> LINK IN BIO <<

The top 5 fossil fuel giants raked in a whopping 219 BILLION US last year. They are using the crisis in Ukraine as an opportunity to take from your wallet – and line shareholder pockets.

Where are the excess profits going? The top Western oil companies paid out a record US$110-billion in dividends and share repurchases to investors in 2022. They've begun investing in more climate-destroying fossil fuel projects while SCALING BACK plans for green energy investments.

It's important not to forget who ultimately made these record-setting profits possible: the millions of people who are paying extra for just about all goods and services. #Fossilflation is fuelling the cost-of-living crisis – AND the climate crisis.

It's time to re-direct that blame shifting right back where it belongs: onto the rich and their SKY YACHTS.
